Called to Serve
We strive to bring hope to the widowed and orphans, joy to the handicapped and the homeless children, nourishment to
the hungry, education to the uneducated, medical assistance to the ill, refuge to the abandoned and abused, and love to the
lost and lonely.
Dove Missions connects people who want to serve with the impoverished children and families living in the slums of Puerto
Plata who desperately need assistance. We believe in the “servant-learner” philosophy that encourages you to share your
talents and skills with the local community while also learning about their culture and about yourself. We also know that
service is a powerful path to personal and spiritual growth. It brings people a deep sense of fulfillment and for many it
opens the doors to a profound awareness of their own and others’ divinity and a renewed connection to God.
As a Dove Missions volunteer you will have the opportunity to work directly with the children and families in our sponsorship
and boys and girls club programs. You can help teach English, facilitate values education, assist in vocational training, lead or
participate in a sports camp or summer school program. You will have the opportunity to bring and distribute donations of
clothing, food and personal hygiene items to impoverished families, handicapped children, orphans, and new mothers.
In addition to physically volunteering in Puerto Plata with Dove Missions, you can also support our programs and the people
we serve by participating in our family sponsorship program, joining our board or by sending us a financial donation. We
are a small organization with a big heart, making a significant impact on the lives of the children and families we serve.
